How to display art

If you’ve got a mix of artworks creating a salon hang (also known as a French hang) is a great way to create a sense of unity. It’s all about getting the balance right with the frames and colours. Working within a palette helps to bring it all together.

Your walls take up a huge surface area in your home. And while there’s definitely a case for having negative space, you don’t want every wall to be empty. The right artwork or wall hanging can add a beautiful layer or texture to your space. It also gives your home personality and a point of difference.

When creating a gallery wall, it’s best to hang pieces that have a similar theme, colour scheme or you can unite them with similar frames. TO hang art by the eye — anchor the largest piece on the left or right, and then graduate them across by size and colour. Keep pieces feeling connected by placing larger artworks roughly 5-7cm apart and smaller ones 4-6cm apart.
