5 easy ways to refresh your space

Let’s get clear on what refreshing your space actually looks like. It means you’re acknowledging that the time has come for change. You’re ready to let go of a way of living that no longer serves you.

But you might be worrying that you don’t have time, or you’re not sure what to do. Maybe you’ve tried to make improvements in your spaces before but they haven’t quite come off as well as you’d hoped.

Here are some practical tips to help you refresh your spaces with confidence.

1. Clear away clutter

One of the easiest ways to feel better in your home is to clear away clutter. This is a process that costs nothing, but brings you so much value to your daily living. Start small and be consistent.

2. Create a blank canvas

All too often we live by default. We stop noticing the objects that are in our spaces. And we don’t even consider that they can live somewhere else in our home. When we physically remove them, we create an opening for new possibility. This is a foundational process in styling.

3. Introduce super-sized flowers

If you want to create an instant eye-catching arrangement, introduce super-sized flowers or foliage to your space. It will be guaranteed to make you feel good every time you walk past, and become a topic of conversation with others in your home. Foraging from your garden is fun, too.

4. Build layers with books

An easy way to add texture, which is essential for any space, is through book stacks. This is a relatively inexpensive way to add personality, visual interest and volume to any surface.

5. Add contrast

When everything looks the same it can easily become bland. Instead, introduce some unexpected moments: contrast, movement, combinations…
